Impersonate a user in Bugfender (sudo)

In order to provide support to a user, you might want to access that user's account.

Using your password to access a user account

Use the email address of the user you want to log in as, then use as password your own email address and password concatenated with a colon.

For example, to access customer@example.com you need to use:

Not every user can "sudo", only admin users can do it. If you need someone to have "sudo" access, please ask Aleix or Jordi to grant it.

Two factor authentication

Great power comes with great responsibility. In order to use the "sudo" functionality you will also need a second factor of authentication: a TOTP code such as Google Authenticator or a security key such as Yubikey.

In order to set up your 2FA, please log in to Bugfender, then go to your user profile and use the options in the 2FA section.

Audit logging

We have an access log. For example, we log logins, password changes, access to log data, etc. This is important to security-aware users, for example, Autodesk and Intel already asked for this. This might also be necessary for customers who seek to be GDPR or HIPAA compliant. Your actions are logged as well.
